Location

The Iguazú Falls are located in the northern extreme of the province of Misiones right in the middle of three important cities, Puerto Iguazú (Argentina), Foz do Iguazú (Brasil) and Ciudad del Este (Paraguay). The nearest city to the falls is Puerto Iguazú, only 10.5 miles away. Protected as a National Park, this place has been nominated as one of the world´s modern wonders.

Tourist Attractions:

These wonderful falls are more than 160 feet high and have many panoramic views that always amaze even the most demanding tourists. There visitors can go around the National Park on an ecological train, walk the paths, watch the falls either from above or from below, and then admire the unbelievable “Devil´s Throat”, which is the largest waterfall. Also, they can take a semi-flexible boat to get closer to San Martín Fall and Tres Mosqueteros Fall, get wet, go downriver on the rapids and return to the departing place on four-wheel trucks through the jungle.

Highlighted:

THE DEVIL´S THROAT is the strongest fall in Iguazú, 262.5 feet high. People can access it by foot from the station of the same name and watch it from only 50 yards away on a specially designed observation deck that can hold hundreds of tourists at the same time. There are a total of 275 falls in Iguazú, most of them on the Argentine side of the border.

FREQUENT Q&A AND SOME ADVICE FOR YOUR TRIP TO IGUAZU FALLS

These are the most frequently asked questions about this destination. With this information you will know the basics and will be able to take full advantage of your time. Please, don´t hesitate to contact us—we are here to offer you our best advice and make sure you get the package you need, because yours is a unique trip and it should be an unforgettable one.

1- Where should we stay overnight? On the Argentine side or on the Brazilian side?

Hotels on both sides are very similar. On the Argentine side hotels are closer to the falls, all between the city of Puerto Iguazú and the National Park.
Currency Exchange is also equivalent on both sides, so we don´t think there are any advantages for staying on the Brazilian side. Taking into consideration that flights arrive at Puerto Iguazú, we recommend staying on the Argentine side, to avoid immigration proceedings to cross the border.

2- Can I visit both sides of the falls if I only stay one night?

Yes, as long as you stay at the Sheraton Internacional Iguazú. This hotel is inside the National Park, so on the day of arrival you can visit the Argentine side by foot on your own, and you can visit the Brazilian side on the following day, if your flight leaves after 3:30pm.

3- Which side is the most beautiful?

It can´t be said that one is better tan the other, since it may differ according to taste. But there are some facts we can give you to help you decide, in case you don´t have enough time to visit both.
About 90% of the falls are on the Argentine side. The lower paths will let you get very close to them, almost underneath, and the paths above are located just on top of the fall, so it can be said that you “live” them. Also, the Devil´s Throat can only be seen from above on the Argentine side. On the other hand, from Brazil, the falls are like a stage, an ideal place for photographs for those people who like taking panoramic pictures.

4- What is Yacutinga Lodge?

Yacutinga is a lodge located in the middle of the Misiones Jungle. It offers guests a number of excursions, walks, boat trips on the San Francisco River and nature´s observation in the area. It´s an excellent complement for people who want to get to know the jungle around the falls. It´s not suitable for kids younger than 10 years old, neither it is recommended for senior people.

5- Is it true that Ciudad del Este (Paraguay) is a good cheap place for shopping?

Years ago, together with the excursion to the Brazilian side of the falls, we took passengers shopping to Ciudad del Este. Safety issues made us eliminate this part of the trip. It is true that you can buy cheap things, but they are bad quality second-hand products. We do not recommend a visit to that city.
