El Chalten - Cerro Fitz Roy

Time of the year:

all year

Length:

Half Day
Going north on the same highway we took to El Chaltén, we can follow the road up the river De Las Vueltas to this beautiful lake that is surrounded by forests and mountains and is located about 23 miles from the village. The trip there is quite an experience in itself, going through forests and water runs, large lakes and small waterfalls. Always next to the winding river De Las Vueltas on the right and discovering the northeast face of Mount Fitz Roy on the left. A few yards before arriving at the lake we will find a private camping area on the left side of the road. The lake, which has a north-south oblong shape, is between the Vespignani chain on the west and the Del Bosque chain on the east. There are several possible trekking paths to take from here, some short and some long, or we can just spend the day immersed in a unique and beautiful natural landscape.
